GateWay Community College offers a Fast Track Practical Nursing Program a program designed to provide students with the opportunity to complete their course of study in a condensed time frame and prepare those who graduate to sit for the Practical Nurse Licensing Exam administered through the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Applicants may enter the Fast Track Practical Nursing Program after completing program prerequisites some of which include the Health Core Curriculum courses and the Nurse Assisting program.

A program that prepares individuals to assist in providing general nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, physician or dentist. Includes instruction in taking patient vital signs, applying sterile dressings, patient health education and assistance with examinations and treatment. Students who complete the practical nursing program will be eligible to take the state board exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). An LPN is an important member of the health care team who provides patient care under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse or physician. This rigorous 650 hour course is designed for students committed to a career in direct patient care. Tuition and fees are $9,350.00.

The SouthWest Skill Center at Estrella Mountain Community College serves the growing community of the West Valley with short-term, hands-on training that prepares you for current and future job opportunities by utilizing the most up-to-date technology taught by industry professionals. This program provides a holistic approach to education that combines classroom instruction with a skills-based laboratory, hands-on experience, and therapeutic interaction with patients at off-site clinical locations throughout the Phoenix area. This 1,008 clock hour, 11 1/2 month course prepares students to take the NCLEX-PN licensing examination. Tuition, lab fees, and books = $ 6,500.00.

The Practical Nursing program at Fortis College provides the theory, laboratory and clinical experiences to prepare the student for an entry-level position in Practical Nursing. Nursing theory guides clinical practice. The clinical portion of the program provides students with hands-on experience; providing nursing care to patients of all ages, ethnic and cultural groups, and stages of wellness/illness in hospitals and other health care agencies affiliated with Fortis College.
